McLardy: “It’s an important part of what we do”
Chief Growth Officer Nick McLardy recently spoke to Insurance News regarding McLardy McShane’s long-standing commitment to giving back to the community. The following article was written by Harris Pozderovic.
Insurance professionals would be the first to admit the industry’s reputation has taken a beating of late. Whether for justifiable reasons or not, it has become a punching bag for many, including politicians during the recent election campaign.
Drawing less attention are the industry’s fair practices, and its many philanthropic endeavours.
According to Strive Philanthropy’s GivingLarge report for last year, major insurers IAG, Suncorp and QBE are among the financial sector’s top contributors to community projects.
Another key contributor to charitable projects is Melbourne-based brokerage McLardy McShane, which says giving back is an “important part of what we do”.
“We’ve been fortunate to build strong relationships over the best part of the past two decades with [our] partners, which include FightMND, the Reach Foundation, CureEB Foundation, Love Your Sister and, most recently, House of Darwin Foundation,” chief growth officer Nick McLardy tells Insurance News.
“We’ve been able to raise nearly $3.5 million for these organisations over the years, but just as importantly, we have been able to bring our staff, our clients and our wider network along for the ride and raise their awareness of the incredible work these groups do.”
