The Reach Foundation
Reach was established in 1994 by Jim Stynes, of AFL fame, and Paul Currie, established film director and drama coach. Seeing a need to develop self-belief and confidence in teenagers, they decided to combine their skills to create a safe and fun place for young people to hang out. Over the last 17 years, Reach has grown substantially and the 125 strong crew now reach over 60,000 teenagers every year through a variety of preventative programs including workshops, weekends away and large-scale events across Australia. Reach encourages all young people, no matter their circumstances, to believe that they can achieve. At its core, Reach is young people inspiring young people.
Eight years ago, we saw the fantastic work being done through Reach and realised we could make a positive difference to the youth of Australia by supporting this incredible organisation.
We are passionate about spreading the word of Reach’s incredible work and love getting our clients involved. Each year we run events to fundraise for Reach, including our Annual Portsea Golf Day and the Reach Christmas Lunch. Over the past five years we are proud to have donated over $500,000. However, our support does not stop at cash donations. We are strong believers in the power of businesses helping charities and have seen first-hand the benefits that they too get from supporting Reach. For the past two years we have been running ‘Heroes Bus Tours’ in the mini bus that we bought for Reach from proceeds raised at the 2009 McLardy McShane Reach Christmas Lunch. These tours take groups of business people to experience the magic of Reach first hand. These trips consistently blow our guests away and are always booked out.
