| McLardy McShane’s Golf Day raises the bar and brings in over $30k for Jim Stynes’ Reach Foundation |
|
The team at McLardy McShane are dedicated supporters of Jim Stynes’ youth charity, The Reach Foundation. The annual fundraising efforts have been kick-started with over $30,000 raised for the foundation at the annual McLardy McShane Golf Day held in Portsea on Monday 16th May. Once again, the nation’s leading insurers and McLardy McShane clients embraced the popular event. This year, Vero was the Golf Competition’s major sponsor and Centrepoint Alliance generously sponsored the celebratory dinner held in the evening at the Portsea Hotel. Golfers enjoyed a fantastic day of social competition including Premier Funding’s Putting Competition and were treated to an on course barbeque and massage to reinvigorate weary limbs. Over 130 guests enjoyed the celebratory dinner, which aims to not only applaud and recognise the victorious golfing teams but to raise awareness of and educate guests about The Reach Foundation’s extensive youth work. This year we heard inspiring stories from father and son Derek and Glen Christie, who have been associated with Reach for over 15 years. Derek, a long-time employee of major sponsor Vero, told of how Reach can equally be as empowering for adults as it is for youth when dealing with the challenges of parenting. McLardy McShane client, David Barrie, also spoke of his wish for every young person in Australia to experience Reach’s work so they can feel comfortable and confident to express their feelings and reach for their dreams. Guests were given the opportunity to play a direct part in supporting Reach’s work by pledging to sponsor a Fused Program – a five-week course which combines fun, engaging and thought provoking activities to help teenagers discover more about themselves in a creative, safe and non-judgmental environment. Over $22,000 was donated though the generous contribution from sponsors and clients including, CGU, ACE Insurance, QBE, Macquarie, NTI, Centrepoint Alliance and Nautilus Marine.
